    Bring the kids and come out for Family Day on Aragon- a day of family friendly, fun activities on the second Saturday of each month at the Coral Gables Art Cinema, Books & Books, and the Coral Gables Museum.This month’s activities include:Books & Books, 265 Aragon Avenue: 10am

    Coral Gables Art Cinema, 260 Aragon Avenue: 11am
    On Saturday & Sunday, December 14 & 15, at 11:00 am, join the Gables Cinema as they continue our series of family and youth screenings as part of Family Day on Aragon by taking you behind the scenes of one of the world’s most popular exhibits, Life and death in Pompeii and Herculaneum in the film, Pompeii: The British Museum. Buried in ash and volcanic stones for hundreds of years before being rediscovered, Pompeii and Herculaneum have been partly excavated, revealing many fascinating objects and buildings that tell us about the lives of the Roman people in the 1st century. Join the Gables Cinema on this fun and illuminating journey of one of history’s most talked about events, through one of the world’s biggest and greatest museums! This program lasts 60 minutes and is recommended for kids ages 9 – 14.

    Special ticket prices are $6.50 for children 12 and under with free popcorn & $7.50 for ages 12 and up. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.movietickets.com, at the Cinema box office during regular film screening hours and at the door the day of.

    Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Avenue: All day
    Join them for a Holiday Artisan Market in the Museum Loggia from 11am-5pm! Check out locally made crafts, specialty foods and other great artisan products that will make for great gifts this holiday season. A fun and family-friendly way to check off your holiday gift list!

    Experience a winter wonderland in the Museum Courtyard from 2pm-4pm! Enjoy holiday decor, snow (yes, we said snow!) and a special visit from Santa! Sit on Santa’s lap for a special photo and decorate your own holiday picture frame that’s yours to keep. Finally, enjoy a 3pm holiday musical performance! Families can also enjoy delicious Italian gelato from Peterbrooke Chocolatier ($4pp).

    Want to learn how to build a gingerbread house? Enter their 6th annual GingerBuild Workshop from 3pm – 4:30pm! Bring the whole family to learn how to bake, build and decorate your very own gingerbread house! All materials are provided, so you can build your own miniature gingerbread house to take home with you. Just bring your creativity and imagination! Space is limited.

    Registration Required. $10 per house building team (1-4 people); $5 for Museum Members. To register, call 305.603.8067.
