  • Design For a Living World at the Museum
    Jul 26, 2012 - 7:00pm to Oct 26, 2012 - 12:00am
    Coral Gables Museum
    285 Aragon Ave

The Coral Gables Museum is proud to announce that The Nature Conservancy is bringing its acclaimed Design for a Living World exhibition to the Museum, opening July 26 through October 26, 2012. The Nature Conservancy invited 10 designers to create objects from sustainable materials sourced from around the world.  Wood, plants, wool and other organic materials were transformed into intriguing objects, revealing extraordinary stories about regeneration and the human connection to the Earth’s lands and waters. Together designers and consumers can re-shape our economy and help advance a global conservation ethic by choosing sustainable materials that support rather than deplete endangered places. Design for a Living World, which premiered at New York’s Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum and traveled to Chicago and Phoenix, showcases the works of Ted Muehling, Stephen Burks, Yves Béhar, Abbott Miller, Kate Spade New York, Isaac Mizrahi, HellaJongerius, ChristienMeindertsma, EzriTarazi and Maya Lin.  This stop at the Coral Gables Museum will be the final chance to view this beautiful exhibition as The Nature Conservancy will have a closing party on October 25th with an opportunity to purchase these items during a live auction.

Design for a Living World opens with a cocktail reception featuring the Bombay Sapphire World Experiential on Thursday, July 26 at 7 PM.  Tickets for the opening reception, which includes open bar and hors d’oeuvres, are $25 for Museum members, $30 for non-members and $40 the day of the event.  Tickets may be purchased by calling the Museum at 305-603-8067.
