MIRACLE MILE CONSTRUCTION-from December 23, 2016 to January 1, 2017
The contractor has sent letters and grant easement agreements to property owners who expressed interest in installing additional pavers within their private property. Please return your agreement by the deadline stated in your letter.
COMING JANUARY 2017
Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department (WASD) will be doing utility work at night on the following dates and at the following locations:
Week of January 8, 2017
• Intersection of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Miracle Mile –
Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Week of January 17, 2017
In addition, Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department (WASD) Capital Improvement Program is planning to upgrade the water service in the City of Coral Gables. The improvements include water main and water service replacements. The work will take place on the north side of the median on Miracle Mile from Le Jeune Road (SW 42nd Avenue) going east to Douglas Road (SW 37th Avenue).
The water main replacement is scheduled to start on January 17, 2017 at night for a maximum of 90 days, Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
MIRACLE MILE CONSTRUCTION – from December 23, 2016 to January 1, 2017
Block 200 – Installation of pavers is in progress. Irrigation has been installed, concrete curbs have been poured.
Block 100 – The irrigation, foundation for the column lights at the crosswalks and electrical control panels are being installed. Concrete curbs are also being poured. The bedding base is being prepared for the pavers. Paver installation is anticipated to begin soon after, starting from the east to the west.
Block 000 – The excavation for the new drainage continues with the installation of structural soil. This will include the full closure of one eastbound lane (south side) of Miracle Mile and the adjacent street parking from Salzedo Street to Douglas Road (SW 37th Avenue). We will have appropriate signage advising of the detours.
One lane of traffic will remain open at all times on the south side of Miracle Mile from Le Jeune Road to Douglas Road.
GIRALDA AVENUE CONSTRUCTION – from December 23, 2016 to January 1, 2017
A construction crew will be working on the corner of Giralda Avenue and Ponce de Leon Boulevard. They will be performing demolition to a portion of the sidewalk and installing pavers. A portion of the sidewalk will be closed. Access to your business will remain available at all times.
The street is closed to vehicular traffic; however, pedestrian access to the businesses will be maintained at all times for the duration of construction. Water barriers have been installed in order to separate the work zone and pedestrian traffic. Temporary crossings have been installed and will be relocated as construction continues.
The City of Coral Gables has made parking vouchers for public parking garages available to merchants
for the use of their customers. The vouchers were provided to the Business Improvement District (BID) for distribution to businesses being directly impacted by construction. Please call the BID at 305-569-
0311 to pick up or ask for additional vouchers.
GIRALDA AVENUE VALET PARKING VOUCHERS
In addition to the parking vouchers provided to merchants for nearby garages, Giralda’s Restaurant Row
is also Offering Free Valet. In partnership with the City, Restaurant Row merchants on the 100 block of Giralda Avenue will provide complimentary valet vouchers to their customers, at their discretion. Merchants requiring additional vouchers should contact the Parking Department at 305-460-5541.
A valet station is now operating at the northeast corner of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Giralda Avenue for lunch (11a.m. – 5 p.m.) and dinner (6 p.m. – 12 a.m.) Monday to Saturday. There is another station on the west side of Galiano Street between Giralda Avenue and Aragon Avenue operating for lunch (11a.m.
– 4 p.m.) and dinner (6 – 11 p.m.) Monday to Saturday. The valet station will remain open until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
