Feel The Love: Valentine’s Day In Downtown Coral Gables

Love is in the air every day in Downtown Coral Gables. This is a city with free weekly outdoor Jazz just for a little bit of romance during your lunch break (that’s the Jazz in the Gables at the Coral Gables Museum loggia on Wednesdays)! But that doesn’t mean that Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be extra special and particularly lovely.

If you’re the stay-at-home type, stock up on the freshest fruits and vegetables and artisanal goods on Saturday at the Coral Gables Farmer’s Market. Plan your menu before you go or just wing it based on what’s in season, either way, you’ll wind up with a meal that tastes better because it’s locally grown. Stop at Wolfe’s Wines, right on Miracle Mile, after and ask them to help you put together the perfect pairing and pop into La Provence or Chocolate Fashion for bread and pastries to really round out the perfect homemade meal.

Are you the type who doesn’t want to get a single dish dirty at home? Check out the new dinner menu at Threefold Cafe for something different than your go-to Gables dinner spots. The elegant and trendy meal elevates the more home-style food that they serve for breakfast and lunch while keeping their signature spin on Aussie favorites. The menu isn’t segmented into starters, mains and sides; it’s 13 dishes for you to split and enjoy together. Start with the Terrine of Pork Rillette served with apricot ginger chutney, baguette and pickled vegetables and then move onto the Salmon Crudo with grapefruit brûlée, whipped avocado and lightly picked radish followed by Potato Gnocchi and finished with the Beef Short Rib with black licorice tea consommé and black olive oil.

No Valentine’s Day is complete without a decadent dessert. Have you tried Gioia on Miracle Mile? This needs to be your go-to place for unique flavors and cakes like you’ve never had before. If you’re looking for Valentine-friendly, allergy-friendly dessert options, head to Vixi, also on Miracle Mile, and try their dairy-free vegan Pistachio gelato. Hang out for a bit and try their affogato coffee, or grab a to-go container and have a late-night snack at home. Amore Gelato Art Caffe, on Giralda, not only has the perfect name for a Valentine’s Day itinerary, but they also serve delicious, Tuscan-style gelato every day. This gelateria is the result of a love of Italy, music and art in a romantic ambiance. You must try the gelato but you can also stay for a light bite or take something home for later like some cannoli, an apple tart or some dairy-free, gluten-free chocolate lava cake. Is there anything more romantic?
