Streetscape Updates re: Curbless, Assessment & More
The City Commission met for a Miracle Mile/Giralda Streetscape Design Workshop on Thursday, August 27, from 9:30 AM – Noon . They reviewed the latest updates on this important project that is set to change the Downtown area into an even more pedestrian friendly destination. These were the main conclusions:
- Streetscape design for Miracle Mile moves forward with a curbless design
- Streetscape Special assessment notices DEFERRED FOR ONE MORE YEAR. Notices will be mailed in November 2017 because the City’s financing and construction schedule was delayed. Currently construction is not expected to be completed until late 2016 or early 2017.
- The newly released Streetscape renderings will be used for the storefronts, not only to highlight the coming Streetscape and to create excitement about the project, but also it will help with the aesthetics and health of our downtown.
- City authorized City Manager to begin negotiations with Ric-Man for a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Streetscape Construction
