“Wedding Season” is upon us. Except around here, the bulk of weddings don’t actually happen during the summer. When the rest of the country is reveling in some sun, we’re finding excuses to stay inside. Summer movie anyone?

But love is still in the air. The summer is an especially romantic time of year. Maybe it’s that extra bit of skin. Maybe it’s the summer cocktails that restaurants habitually roll out to cool you down. Maybe it’s summer Fridays and vacations.

This week, we thought we’d come up with a few fun date ideas around Downtown Coral Gables and Miracle Mile and make it nice and easy for you to celebrate your love this summer (or maybe kick off the start of a new relationship!) :

Travel around the world, play a round of mini-golf and never leave the comfort of the Coral Gables Museum’s air conditioning. The Coral Gables Museum brings back their popular, playable mini-golf exhibit. This year, it’s called Mini-Gold 2015: International Edition, holes are designed by local architects, design firms and engineers, contractors and students in those disciplines. Play the Great Wall of China, the National Mall, Pyramids of Giza and more!

The Leica Store is a little treasure on Miracle Mile. This is not your average camera store; it’s the camera store for true photography lovers. They host a monthly in-store lecture series called the Leica Lounge featuring local photographers and experts in the field. Doesn’t an evening spend sipping beer or wine and learning about how to capture your moments on film sound romantic? We thought so.

Not all summer activities have to take place indoors, but the only other option for a nice weekend day is on the water where there’s always a bit more of a breeze. You don’t have to go to Miami Beach to spend a day on the water. Take to the Coral Gables Waterway and explore via canoe or kayak! Take a sandwich (we recommend picking one up from The Market or Sub Serious) or a snack (maybe something from Einstein Bros. Bagels or Pasion del Cielo).

Wine tasting is the ultimate date activity. If you’re looking for something a bit different to do this Friday or any Friday, check out the wine tastings at Wolfe’s Wine Shoppe. Stop by at 7 PM for a group tasting or get in touch in advance and schedule a private in-shoppe wine tasting for you and your loved one or a group of friends.

If you’re looking for a full “staycation” feel book a room at The Westin Colonnade or the Hyatt Regency in Coral Gables. Both walking distance from all the Downtown Coral Gables and Miracle Mile has to offer, you’ll feel like you’re on vacation in a quaint European village, just as it was designed to be.
