Today is Cinco de Mayo and you know what that means – margaritas! And tacos too, of course. Get your Cinco fix at Talavera, the Gables’ best Mexican restaurant.

Try the watermelon jalapeño margarita, a clasico or another one of their delicioso flavors. Everybody likes guacamole, right? Cinco de Mayo is basically national guacamole day, so don’t let the calendar turn to seis de mayo without a heaping helping of guac with fresh tortilla chips.

Why not turn Cinco de Mayo into a day to dive into some of the Mexican specialties at Talavera that you haven’t tried? Their queso fundidos are the perfect, shareable starter for a small group – El Poblano is a favorite, it’s melted Oaxaca cheese with poblano chile, corn and onion. Follow that up with a mole dish like the Mole Poblano – made with over thirty ingredients! Mole Poblano includes “dried chiles, Mexican chocolate, assorted fruits, nuts, herbs and spices,” all that paired with chicken breast, white rice, sesame seeds and watercress.

That should be enough to get something in your stomach so that you can go for one more margarita! Happy Cinco!
