Gables Bites: Great Sandwiches and More At Patagonia

By Patricia Guarch Wise of MIAMI NICE

In the world of bad food, it’s the sandwich that often gets the bad end of the deal. Bad sandwiches are everywhere; at the airport, in gas stations, food courts… everywhere. Sure, sandwiches are convenient and easy, but they never have to be bad.

Call me a food extremist – I just can’t settle for sub-par food anymore. It doesn’t matter whether I have a long day of traveling (I take my own food. No bad sandwiches ever!) or am running out mid-workday.

Luckily, I rarely ever have to eat bad food because there’s an endless array of options in the Downtown Coral Gables area.

If I need a good sandwich, no, a great sandwich, made Argentine-style with quality meats and cheese, I head to Delicatessen Patagonia. All your favorite hearty, hot sandwiches are on the menu including Sandwich de Entraña (Skirt Steak Sandwich), Sandwich de Milanesa (Breaded Cutlet Sandwich) and the cult favorite, Choripan (Sausage Sandwich). On a hot Miami day, I go with a cold sandwich, like the Proscuitto Specialty (Patagonia Caprese) or the Ham and Cheese Croissant.

Top it off with a coffee or fresh orange juice and get back to work without sacrificing for a bad sandwich.
