Gables Bites: Cheers to Great Cocktails in Coral Gables

By Patricia Guarch Wise of MIAMI NICE

Today we’re talking wine and cocktails because it’s the beginning of the week, because it’s the last day of September, because tomorrow is Wednesday– because we don’t need an excuse to talk about some standout cocktails in The Gables.

Shake-up your regular routine of a martini shaken, not stirred and go with something a little more unusual like a cocktail from Uvaggio where the drink menu is just as complex and interesting as the food. Uvaggio is a wine bar with an “old world” approach to wine making, but a fun, new approach to cocktails like the “Miracle Mile” – a Dolin, Rouge Vermouth, Bitter Orange Liquer, Prosecco and soda water.

At Bread + Butter, they’ve taken the mystery out of ordering wine and organized their menu into a transparent and easy to read system. Reds and whites are sorted into “Wines We Love To Sell,” “Wines To Experiment & Enjoy,” and “Wines With Substance and Character.”

Enjoy some live music with your cocktail at Open Stage Club. They have an extensive cocktail list with riffs on all your favorites like a cilantro  or cucumber mint martini or The Stage Margarita a Maestro Dobel Tequila, fresh lime juice and agave nectar.

Morton’s doesn’t want the cocktail fun to stop just because you need a jolt of java, so they’ve crafted a few coffee-based cocktails to keep you awake after a big plate of steakhouse fare. Go with the Morton’s Coffee a Bailey’s and Amaretto coffee drink topped with whipped cream.
