Valentine’s Day is a divisive holiday; you either love it or you hate it. Whichever camp you fall into, you’re probably going to end up celebrating it in one way or another. Maybe that means defiantly ignoring it and maybe that means indulging your inner romantic. However you chose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, we’re here to help.

Here are a few ideas for different ways to spend your Valentine’s Day in Coral Gables:

Get Thrilled
A night at the Coral Gables Art Cinema, our local independent movie theater, sounds like a nice, romantic way to spend the evening (especially because they have positively delightful sweets at the concession stand and wine!). Don’t worry, they aren’t playing The Notebook on a loop all night, they’re screening a new Paraguayan thriller called 7 Cajas (7 Boxes).

Use Your Hands
Aragon 101 is putting together a date night cooking class, cheekily titled Will You Be My Little Lambchop. You’ll be making, you guessed it, lamb chops along with side dishes and a chocolate dessert. The class is limited to seven couples, so whether you’re celebrating with your lover or your mother, hurry up and make a reservation now.

Drunk With Love
If you’re out on a Valentine’s Day date, you’re likely to indulge in an alcoholic beverage or two, if you’re just out on Valentine’s Day night, you’re just as likely to be enjoying a boozy night. Ortanique on the Mile always has a drink of the week and a liquor of the month, plus a full bar, excellent wine list and signature cocktails. Don’t drink on an empty stomach; the pioneers of “cuisine of the sun” will warm your belly with their tasty Caribbean menu.

Sweat It Out
I don’t recommend you book a Pilates date for Valentine’s Day, but I do think a Pilates class would be a good way to get your blood flowing and your energy pumping before a, ahem, long night. Envy Pilates is a great place for both the beginners and experienced to take a pre-Valentine’s Day evening class.
