Coral Gables Restaurant Week, which technically lasts three weeks (June 10 to 30), kicks off with Taste of the Gables, June 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Westin Colonnade. Twenty amazing local eateries will be handing out tastes of their top offerings and guests can also partake in a cocktail or two and lots of other activities. General admission tickets are $25 in advance and $35 the day of the event, while VIP admission, which grants ticketholders not only access to general admission areas but also access to a Bacardi open bar, additional food stations and a swag bag, are $50 in advance and $65 the day of the event. Only 150 VIP tickets are available, so get yours soon!

After digesting all that goodness, you’ll be ready for some three-course meals at the restaurants you most enjoyed sampling so start planning your attack now. (Here’s a list of participants, FYI.) They’re offering at least 20 percent off their regular prices! When you get to your table, just ask for the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu and you’ll get a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert.

Take your tastebuds on a worldwide journey to places like Germany with Fritz & Franz Bierhaus; the Caribbean with Ortanique; Thailand and Japan with Red Koi; or stick to a classic American steak at Christy’s. Some restaurants offer both lunch and dinner menus, too, just so you know. Reservations aren’t required, but they’re highly recommended. Doggie bags, we hear, are optional.
