Gables Style: Tune in Tokyo

Cute, quirky, rich, fragrant, and artful. The latest line of products to land at GBS The Beauty Store in Coral Gables is a jack of all trades. Tokyo Milk, from creator and internationally renowned perfume/designer Margot Elena, includes hand milk creams, perfumes and soaps in intoxicating scents like Gin & Rosewater, Kabuki No. 9 and—my personal favorite—Let Them Eat Cake No. 11. So what makes this line stand out on the shelf? Initially, it’s the packaging. It’s the kind of product you’ll want to leave on your counter so your guests can admire it. Retro flower-meets-modern sketches with fun names. Some are more kitschy than others, like the Dead Sexy No. 6 fragrance, which features a scull and crossbones on its bottle. But if it’s what inside that counts, Tokyo Milk doesn’t disappoint. The bottles of  handcrafted perfumes, like Dead Sexy, combine hints of deep vanilla, exotic wood, white orchid and ebony.  The scents can also be mixed together to make your own unique fragrance, like Dead Sexy mixed with Kabuki (sugared grapefruit, lychee and sweet jasmine). Think of it as geisha goes wild.  With a little imagination, there’s no stopping the combinations you can make with this dynamic line.
