Herald Hunt Returns; Popular Brain-Teasing Scavenger Hunt Landing In Coral Gables This November

Attention Hunters: Dust off your linen suits and roll up your sleeves, The Herald Hunt is back! On Sunday, November 6th, 2005 The Hunt hits Coral Gables for a full day of fun and amazement.

Pulitzer Prize-winning Miami Herald columnist and Master of Ceremonies Dave Barry is on sabbatical from his weekly column, but he’ll be back at The Hunt. And once again, Dave’s partner and co-mastermind is Tom Shroder, former executive editor of The Herald’s late Sunday magazine, Tropic, current senior editor at The Washington Post Magazine and renowned author.

Together, Dave and Tom have created and fostered an event that is famous not just in South Florida, but across the nation. They literally spend months conjuring up deviously cryptic clues that inevitably delight and confound players, many of whom fly in from all over the country just for the occasion.

Miami Vice, the TV series that captured — and redefined — the pastel images and exotic mystique of South Florida, provides the backdrop for this year’s Hunt. From this unique setting, players will set off on a wild chase through the City Beautiful as they attempt to solve a series of off-the-wall puzzles. The first player or team to successfully complete the entire puzzle wins, but as veteran Herald Hunters will tell you, it’s not just about winning — it’s about being there!

Coral Gables merchants and organizations are encouraged to join in the fun by offering Herald Hunt-themed offers and events for participants and observers.
